I was just talking to a lady from Germany yesterday. Her sister in Germany said she would not believe how bad things had gotten. I loved Germany when I was there in the late 70s.

Locking the barn door after the horse is gone. Be extremely difficult to recover and we seem to be following the same path as Merkel did.

She nailed it. Telling the masses what they don't want to hear is never popular in the beginning but it is necessary. Germany is becoming a boat anchor in Europe. Some are waking up. Will it be enough?

Good question. Germans are traditionally nationalistic, but gun shy after WWII and Hitler. How do they assert themselves without giving opportunity to the extreme right?

The Germans need to stop living in the past. The Japanese got past the war and the many, many atrocities they committed pretty quickly. They cannot change the past, only learn from it. Maintaining sovereignty is something almost every country does, they should not shy away from the responsibility. They have the right to put their interests first, to manage immigration and to work in their best interests.
