My Father was in China-Burma-India for the entire war flying into China or Burma. Both of those locations were subjected to some pretty terrible atrocities and the Japanese had a habit of executing air crews. I was 16 before he would ever let a product made in Japan in the house. He never really verbalized that much.
He was at my house one day when a movie about Hiroshima from the Japanese point of view came on TV. His comment was simple ," they started it, it saved American lives, they got what they deserved". I didn't push that conversation any further.
Oh, and the casualty rate for Air Crews flying the Hump were worse than those of the 8th Air Force flying over Germany.

CPT Jack Durish Being able to forgive is unique. COL Mitch Paige, CMH, USMCR, Retired, the second CMH awardee on Guadalcanal told me that he had attended ‘re-unions’ where he and former Japanese antagonists were able to ‘forgive and forget’ when they met.

My mother mentioned about most of the Asian world hates the Japanese...she was furious with me for even asking about one of their ceremonies
