The "letter" is embarrassing.
First, this: "These four congresswomen come to our country for a better life. " Wrong! Three of those women were born here! The other came here as a 10 year old child. By the way, she passed he citizenship test at 17 years old, a test most American born citizens have trouble with.
Second: "Us veterans will not stand still and let these people destroy our country." Wrong! WE veterans served to allow such dissent.
Third: The old "love it or leave it" has never rang true. Should be: Love it and work to make it even better!

MSG Stan Hutchison , most people may notice that I share a lot of information but do not make comments. Yes, that is done intentionally because I do not always have and educated (not emotional) argument, and I like to see others reactions. However, I have to let my fellow veterans know that I agree with you on this and I respect Patricia Overmeyer 's question.
Yes, our country has flaws just like every other country. And yes, I do not believe in the way politics are being handled today. But the one thing I learned while in the military is that it is not what you say but how you say it. You can learn a lot about a person by listening to how a person speaks. Those who aren't well educated speak more from personal emotion and don't look for facts as clearly seen in this letter. The author of this letter did not take the time to learn about these women before writing this letter. If he had, he may have written it differently. I would like this to be a lesson to all readers on RallyPoint. Read the entire article before responding and research more on the topic before commenting if you do not know much about it. Don't write the first thing that comes to your mind. Educate yourself more and use tact in your communication.

PO1 Lonny Wedell - Fortunately, most in this nation do not agree with your idea. Compromise is the groundwork for a democracy. OK, in our case, a representative democracy.

PO1 Lonny Wedell - Exactly WHO (name them) is trying to "make you live in an over crowded city “smart apartment”."???

PO1 Lonny Wedell - Hummm seems you missed the very first line:
" in developing countries "
Besides, that was in 1992. They haven't come for you yet have they? If not I think you may be safe.

Such a sad response from a vet. My dad was a WWII and Korea vet, and yes, as the gentleman said, he loved this country. He also couldn't conceive of a day when the POTUS would refer to a confrontation between neo nazis and anti neo nazis and say that there were good people on both sides. He couldn't imagine a day when the POTUS said that he loved the dictator of North Korea, and that he was a great guy who loved his people.
Leave America if you don't like it? That has always been BS. Don't like slavery in America? Leave it! Don't like the fact that blacks have to sit in the back of the bus, use "colored only" entrances and water fountains? Leave it! Colin Powell wrote in his book that upon returning from VN, he and some friends went to a place to eat outside Ft Benning, and he was refused service. Should he have left?
Don't like that corporations were allowed to pollute our air and water making them unbreathable and undrinkable? Leave it!
Don't complain, don't try and change the laws, just fkning leave! And especially to those who feel strongly enough to not just complain, but to make the effort to run for office and serve our country, you should leave rather than try and implement the changes the American citizens who voted you into office sent you there to do. Just go back to where you came from (even if that is the US). Funny though, how when Trump ran on "Making America Great Again" by supposedly changing everything. he complained that soooo many things were wrong in America, and with American laws. Yet none of the conservatives said, "hey Trump, don't like the way America is, then leave it!" Because, you know, if you want to make America great AGAIN, that means you believe it isn't great now. So all you citizens wearing MAGA hats, if you don't think America is great, just leave!

Well stated. Those jumping on the love it or leave it must not have supported the Civil Rights movement. Speaks volumes.
I oppose illegal immigration, and believe that Reagan's amnesty would only promote more of the same, and the need for amnesty again.
But, that's not everyone's opposition. Many just oppose it because of the so called, "browning of America." There, all in the face of those who deeply feel that way, but lack the intestinal fortitude to say it. It's nothing new. The leader of the Moral Majority, "Rev" Falwell made that clear with his comment oppoaing Brown vs Board of Education saying God drew a line of distinction.
Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen — speaking at a Republican event this month — expressed concern that the United States is "going to look like South American countries very quickly." She wasn't speaking metaphorically, and that phrase is a racist dog whistle.
Quoting Professor James Johnson (NC), she stated, "The median age of a white woman is 43. The median age of a Hispanic woman is 27," Allen said. "We are not reproducing ourselves, the birthrates. But here's what I see is the issue. It's because of immigration."
She isn't the first, and won't be the last.
The American Conservative article, "Immigration, the Republicans, and the End of White America,"
By Ron Unz, September 19, 2011, puts it out there quite clearly that race and division go hand in hand in political strategy.
Interestingly, he presents ideas likes raising the minimum wage, as a positive move for conservatives. He also dispels many of the myths used to vilify immigrants, legal and illegal, with regard to public benefits.
Racial division, as a political tool, is American, but should it be? Is that a great American value?

SGT Joseph Cabra - You're quite welcome to support a party which has no qualms about throwing you in a concentration camp. They've already done that to American citizens, falsely imprisoning them as well as deporting them. When it happens to you , man up and don't complain. You chose this.
You want to make false claims about racist remarks, but here you're going on the attack with "you white far leftists"..... You rightwingers need to clean up your own hypocrisy.

SGT Joseph Cabra - If you're not a rightwinger, your posts certainly don't show it. You speak the exact same denigrating language of the far right loons. What's next, citing "very fine people" or Soros?

So how many Vets told Trump and other Americans to “love it or leave” when they criticized America, the government, US policies, etc. under Obama, Bush, Clinton etc?
I mean what made criticism then different from criticism we hear today?

SGT Joseph Cabra See propaganda struck again. First, Democratic Socialist blended economic policies similar to Canada and Scandinavian countries isn’t the pure Socialism you and others keep claiming.
Second, giving an interviewer hyperbolic fact that if you want to use the statistics that show more than 70% of violent extremists attacks and domestic terrorism since 9/11 have been committed by White males then doesn’t it make sense if you want to run a fear campaign why pick Muslims or immigrants when the stats show White men make up the majority of mass murder, terrorist acts, and extremists activities in the country.
Yeah that Omar interview was doctored and if you watch the real full interview you get the full context of her argument. Not the race baiting BS of the racist that spread the viral altered video.

SGT Joseph Cabra Oh and speaking of suggesting another American being deported, didn’t Trump suggest three American born women go back to countries that are not their origin.
