My neck of the woods Capt Dwayne Conyers. The previous Admiral was relieved for spending excessively on raises and having a margherita machine in his office along with inappropriate comments to staff. These were allegations but I’m sure his career is over.

My issue would be a matter of performance. What was his fitness reports like, up to his getting fired? He sounds perfect for today’s PC environment. Nothing he did broke any regulations or statutes. The old ambiguous “loss of confidence to lead”. Being from the old dinosaur military, he wouldn’t be what I would have found suitable, but today?

Wonder if she'll keep her predecessor's margarita machine?

While I am tired as well of that, it is a "headline" And she will be watched even more closely than a man would so it is no favor to her.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I think that's a consequence of drawing attention to being the 1st in a particular demographic. Instead of it being empowering, I think it divides us more. It's contradictory for the military to recognize men and women are to be treated as equals on one hand and then on the other hand give special recognition to female service members solely for being female.

I agree. Characteristics like one's gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. aren't achievements as you are born with them. She shouldn't be getting anymore recognition then if a man was selected for the position.
