The companies conducting fracking claim there will be no harm in the process as the system is closed. Nothing is perfectly a closed system.

Stake out area where companies can drill and then forbid housing there. This is the same thing that happens with bases and airports. The base/airport/company becomes a magnet for development and then the people who buy there get upset over the noise or traffic or whatever
