Lying former Gitmo detainee publishes graphic novel on exploits
MY COMMENT:
Mohammed El Gharani, captured in Tora Bora section of the Afghanistan/Pakistan border after 9/11/2001, was in possession of a fake passport, and a watch associated with graduates of an al Qaeada training camp. See the official UNCLASSIFIED copy of his summary by Googling his name and the word "docket."
El Gharani, 14 years old when he was received at the US military detention facility, was the "get over" detainee described in my memoir, "Saving Grace at Guantanamo Bay." He lied then, was documented about lying about his treatment there, and is lying now. The only difference now is that he's being paid for it.
US forces operating the detention operation at Gitmo in early 2002 were privy to training practices of al Qaeda. Captured training manuals were circulated among us so that we were aware of their techniques. None surprising or much different than what an American military person could be expected to perform were we held captive. Things such as disrupting detention operations, trying to escape. However, al Qaeda detainees had been trainined to LIE about their treatment if captured, and to lawyer up as soon as possible in order to effect "lawfare" on the Americans.
In other words, detainees were trained to try and take advantage of the American legal system. Something Donald Rumsfeld discusses in his autobiography, "Known and Unknown."
In any case, Gharani cannot be trusted to tell the truth about ANYTHING, and it's unfortunate that this jihadist is now enjoying the benefits of freedom and self-expression, while the victims of 9/11, and the Global War on Terror are forever robbed of their opportunity to do the same.
