Seems no one wants the easy solution, protect schools like we do courthouses.

Not an easy solution since we have far more schools than courthouses. Costs for trained uniformed personnel and scanning equipment for every facility would be prohibitive. Some courthouses also make visitors clear weapons or sign over for temporary holding before entry into main area.
