Lapthe Flora, a Hoa (Ethnic Chinese from Vietnam) refugee, fled Vietnam in 1980. After adoption by an American family and completing high school late in life, he later completed college and became a commissioned officer. Today, he is a one-star general officer with the U.S. Army.
