Self care starts before, during and after military service. Key to that self care is knowing yourself, mentally and physically. The physical part can be altered through diet and exercise. Mentally though, you have to be acutely aware of what is happening around you. Visual cues can be a warning of what can trigger an episode of mental fatigue, a lapse in mental awareness that can lead to mental exhaustion. Self care includes getting a proper amount of sleep, socializing with others and even spiritual participation. If you fell depressed talking with a friend or someone you trust can be most helpful. If feeling anxious think about what triggered the anxiety and then search for a resolution.
Self care is an important and absolute necessity today. Medical self care is basic first aid and initiating the EMS system. Know the signs of a heart attack. Stay hydrated, dress appropriately for the weather and most of all EAT. These are the basics of self care. Use common sense and think before acting.
Great video and information.
