Having something happen to you, good or bad is a fact. How you react to that is a choice. Being a victim is a choice. You can choose something else. How about a survivor? A mentor? Someone with life experience? What is your choice here?

Lt Col Charlie Brown: Charlie, I am in absolute agreement with you. I chose to be a victor; against all odds. I am a Facebook coach; so that I can give back.

We do not have to victims of PTSD. We are survivors of tragic events. Being a victim, in my personal experience, allowed me to use PTSD as an excuse for my actions, thoughts and behaviors. But being a survivor gives me the inner strength to face that tragedy and to learn from it. And to change the negative mindset to one that is positive.

Way to go for You LTC Gregory. I am part of a group at my church that is called Totally delivered and free and we teach who the Lord has set free is free indeed. We must learn to see ourselves in our new identity in Christ. We don't have to remain in our old identity but we can identify with our new life.

I find solace in my parish and reading scripture when the old me tries to break out. God has promised that He will never leave me. That is a great comfort and when I think about that, I know that I am free for guilt for surviving.

SPC Margaret Higgins - Thank you for your thought. The tears are no longer for what I have seen but prayers for the souls of those who have died, The memories of the horrific things that I have seen I have given up to Jesus for resolution and learned from them.
