It could be worse. In Canada, the French quebecers threatened terrorism if they reenacted the battle of the Plains of Abraham where the French were beaten by the British back in the 1760s. At least we could still do the the battle reenactments and both sides are proud of being Yankee or Confederate at Gettysburg and many other Battlefield parks.

The quebecers are kind of like the Democrats who can't believe is that President Trump won. They go crazy at the thought of them losing a battle. But they don't give credit to was the British general was smart to let them keep their language and their religion as long as they did not rebel against the occupier. That was granted is not as why Quebec did not join the 13 colonies during the American Revolution. In science, the quebecers have been protesting, sometimes violently, since the 1960s.
