MY COMMENT: First, there has been no "crack down" on immigrants and asylum seekers in the United States. The crack down has been on UNLAWFUL immigrants and asylum seekers. Stand in line and you will be processed within the limits of the law. If you don't like that, don't come here. Second, there are no "draconian" policies in place, either for the United States or for the US military detention operation at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In fact, if you compare immigration policies of the US with those of Central and South American countries you will find that the US probably has the most liberal policies on immigration. Human "rights" cannot exist without human RESPONSIBILITIES. One of those responsibilities is to follow the LAW. Internationally, the United States will NEVER abdicate its sovereignty in order to appease the expectations of others. We are a proud, diverse and fiercely independent people, who will protect and defend our right to self-defense and self-determination to the death.
