That's an individual soldier skill that applies during all co bat or security operations, not just CQB. That's why I hate the Army's SOP of putting the first aid kit on left side.

I lucked out. Most of the units I was in had the SOP for the IFAK to be where it could be reached with either hand, as long as it was properly labeled. In my case this put the IFAK at 11 o clock on my plate carrier.
