While wrong, she is right. If her drawing his ire is the justification for her being fired, he needs to release Mattis and everyone on the JCS. Remember the trans ban fiasco. If we want a President who can say no and ‘fight for his own’, we shouldn’t expect those he selects for positions to be anything less. It seems to me she’s looking out for her branch. That’s what she’s supposed to do, plus most of the manning for this mess would come out of her pool. 90% of the military’s space capabilities is home in the Air Force. For those who support this...don’t complain about draining the swamp when you’re open to adding to it with a ‘sixth’ branch. The Air Force has the space mission on lock. Let them do their jobs.

Confusing article attacking her lack of desire to stand up Space Command and quotes from her indicating the importance of the program.

Of course the simple solution to all this it's a simply rename the US Air Force as the United States Aerospace Force and designate them as space command.

I think this would defeat one of the primary purposes for standing up a branch that is space-specific. Part of the problem (I believe) was that money allocated to the Air Force for space platforms & defenses could be spent elsewhere. Having a space-specific branch that the federal government could fund would prevent such mis-appropriations and additionally allow such a branch to focus on space and nothing but space.
