Wonder why this hasn’t happened over the past presidents, Democrat and Rebublican? Oh yeah, it wasn’t important until we had President Trump to blame. Obama didn’t have it on his priority list for eight years.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - There may be more to Trump's stance on the Puerto Rico's leaders than just his political whims, perhaps, just maybe it's due to her complete incompetence as a leader and in no way should PR become a state when they continuously elect such corrupt and inefficient leaders.
I'm all for PR becoming a state but they have some significant issues least of which are financial.

MAJ Bryan Zeski this is actually a non-story. First, Puerto Ricans have to vote to be a state then it has to go through the Senate and be approved by the majority of states and then the president can sign it. If I'm mistaken, please correct me!

“New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.”
It only requires an act of Congress.
