Thank you for letting us know LT Shannon R When I was stationed in Germany [Bamberg] from 1981 to 1984 my land lord was German. He fought on the eastern front. When the 1962 movie The Longest Day came out in German he invited me to watch it with him. Drinking room-temperature beer and watching John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery, Richard Burton, Henry Fonda, Rod Steiger, Robert Wagner, Peter Lawford, Roddy McDowell, Eddie Albert, Sal Mineo, Paul Anka, Fabian, Red Buttons with German voices was interesting :-)

They sure were like us. I had a bunch of cousins on that side and thank the Lord, I haven't found a "camp" soldier yet!

GySgt John Olson - Of course you can never be 100% positive, but I also had professionals search through the National Archives and also the Israeli records. Don't get me wrong, I had family members in their "elite" military units, just no evidence of their ever having been assigned to camps.

GySgt John Olson - Hate is really bad for YOUR soul. Dislike Nazi Germany with all the intensity you can muster, but avoid hate if at all possible. Spoken from my position as a priest, not as a soldier.

Yes, people like us. Not unsurprisingly the vacant haunted thousand yard stare of the infantrymen in this clip can be seen in every photo or video from all the wars. It is a universal response to combat by all it seems. No matter the time or place or which war.
