Good day my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell and thank you for sharing the Atlanta Rhythm Section performing the Classic 4 song "Spooky"
To be honest I always preferred the Classic 4 version Dennis Yost was a great singer IMHO. It is interesting that J.R. Cobb cowrote the song and played guitar with first Classic 4 and later Atlanta Rhythm Section.

I concur with you, Rest in peace Ronnie Hammond who replaced Rodney Justo as singer after January 1972

Until I researched it I never learned the relationship between Classic 4 and Atlanta Rhythm Section

1. The Classics, a Jacksonville cover band consisting of guitarists J. R. Cobb, Walter Eaton, keyboardist & guitar Joe Wilson, and singer Dennis Yost. Cobb and producer-manager Buddy Buie would later form the Atlanta Rhythm Section with the Candymen drummer Robert Nix, also from Jacksonville, and keyboardist Dean Daughtry in 1971.

2. Atlanta Rhythm Section is an American southern rock band, formed in 1971 by Rodney Justo, Barry Bailey, Paul Goddard, Dean Daughtry, Robert Nix and J.R. Cobb.

James Barney "J. R." Cobb Jr. is an American guitarist and songwriter, most notable for co-writing "Spooky" and "Stormy", among others, as a member of the Classics IV, and later Atlanta Rhythm Section
Perry Carlton "Buddy" Buie was an American songwriter, producer, and publisher. He is most commonly associated with Roy Orbison, the Classics IV and the Atlanta Rhythm Section

Spooky written by Buddy Buie / Harry Middlebrooks / J R Cobb / Mike Shapiro
Lyrics
In the cool of the evening when ev'rything is gettin' kind of groovy,
I call you up and ask you if you want to go and meet and see a movie,
First you say no, you've got some plans for the night,
And then you stop, and say, "All right."
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.
You always keep me guessin', I never seem to know what you are thinkin'.
And if a fella looks at you, it's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin'.
I get confused, 'cause I don't know where I stand,
And then you smile, and hold my hand.
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.
Spooky!
If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are playin',
I'm gonna tell you all what my heart's been a-dyin' to be sayin'.
Just like a ghost, you've been a-hauntin' my dreams,
So I'll propose, on Halloween.
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.
Spooky,
Spooky,
Spooky,
Oh-whoa, all right,
I said Spooky!"
