Changing "would" to "wouldn't" changes the meaning of that one sentence, but then that sentence doesn't fit with the remarks leading up to it, or following it. Nor does it jive with what he said in interviews and tweets after the fact. This was clearly the placing of a bandaid on a major gash, and hoping the bleeding somehow stops.

Typical DT apology with a wink and a nod.

Every politician, news pundit, journalist, etc. that continues to defend Trump's behavior by bringing up Obama or Clinton or Deep State or Witch Hunt should just go ahead and turn in their "I'm a proud American" card. There is zero excuse for what happened in Helsinki.
The Feds gave him the perfect ammunition and strategy going into the summit. No way a smart leader would mess this up one would think. Trump continues to surprise us all with how his ego is more important than facts.

Most Americans know that Trump didn’t misspeak when he threw our intelligence community under the bus . He had to have known right after that press conference that what he had said was being criticized as being weak on Russia . It took almost a day before Trump read from a prepared statement that he meant to say wouldn’t instead of would . I find that hard to believe.
