Federal subsidies would prove useful during this time. Trying to get oher countries to "clean up their act" concerning trade imbalances might take a while, so farmers could use some help. Once the trade imbalances are leveled out, however, it will be important to diminish or remove the subsidies in order to limit any unnecessary "tax strain".
