I am so sad they got rid of a tower that reminded me of Six Flags Magic Mountain. That Tower had a bird's-eye view from a hundred feet up and you could see the whole Battlefield. I'm grateful I went there in 1992 in the middle of July on a hot day 2 see this battlefield were 50,000 people lost their lives over a few days.

Remember that tower well. Visited Gettysburg (c) 1955 on a school field trip and climbed it. Funny thing is that it scared me then, but later climbed masts on tall ships that were higher, standing on ropes and it didn't bother me.

If you get an opportunity, tour the battlefield. The rangers do an amazing job of bringing the story to life.

Lt Col Charlie Brown Visited in 1984, while paying for tour the cashier saw my active duty ID and we ended up getting a personal guided tour. What an experience that was, talk about over the top.
