A terrible thing, but who did it to the children? President Trump? No. Their parents. However, in mitigation, I have to admit that their parents were suckered into coming illegally by President Obama and his Administration who let it be known that they would be welcome, that the immigration laws of the US would not be enforced. Still, people must take responsibility for their choices. That's a fundamental rule. With freedom and liberty comes responsibility. If a person can't take responsibility, they don't belong in America.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Now you're being obtuse. No, I'm not going to explain the story. It's out there for everyone to read the facts surrounding the separation families and the laws pertaining to those instances. You just love to call "bullshit" and then sit back to see who you've annoyed. Sorry, but being angry with you and your nonsense would be like getting angry with a person who has a broken leg is limping

CPT Jack Durish - You are not going to answer the question because you can't answer the question. You've made a claim that there is a law covering this. OK, I'm claiming that there is not, i.e., "bullshit." Instead of providing the law, you just want to gripe about it.

Capt Gregory Prickett - It's not a question of law, it's a question of facts. And screaming "Bullshit" every post simply doesn't make it "Bullshit". Now, I'm done with you for the day. Take your "victory lap" and then take a nap. It seems you need one

CPT Jack Durish Its truly amazing to watch the temper tantrums being thrown over this issue. Where are the progressive elected representative plans for overhaulong the law? They're at the back of the line behind threats of impeachment, tax increases, and climate change. In essence, they have no plan but to stomp, scream, and get photo ops for their constituents back home.

I do not like this policy. I think immediate family deportation is called for.

Originally I did not like this policy but then I realized a few things. One, if I commit a crime as a US Citizen that locks me up, I do not get to take my children to jail with me. The parents here are committing a crime. Two, we have to stop all these coming to the borders and entering illegally. I have worked with the Border Patrol and taken care of people the Coyotes will leave for dead at the drop of a dime. Eight to ten thousand dollars to be smuggled and maybe survive, cost my wife from visa to citizenship $2,000. Separating the children is no where near as cruel as to what happens on the border in part because of lax immigration rules.

MAJ Byron Oyler - do you like Coke or Pepsi? If you're thirsty, are you required to drink the first soda that you come upon, or can you choose? Seeking asylum is the same, and a lady from Guatemala may have reasons for seeking asylum in the United States instead of Mexico. It's not your call on where she tries to get asylum, merely because you believe that she should have gone elsewhere.

I'm very familiar with El Paso - my grandparents used to live just off of Transmountain Rd, and my uncle used to own the SD Myres saddle shop. I've still got relatives all over that area.

Capt Gregory Prickett - It may not be my choice where people go for asylum but it is my responsibility as it is yours and every other citizens to ensure we do not fall flat on our face as country. If the world continues to use us as their problem solver and bank without providing into the system, eventually we will fail. We have to stand up to Mexico and say, "stop allowing these people to travel through you country to ours and help out with problems in Central America." The Roman Empire was mighty and failed and if we do not protect what we have, it will be all gone and we will be able to take care of no one.

MAJ Byron Oyler - the Roman Empire fell because they moved from a republic to a form of government where the leader was more concerned with getting rich and how things affected him, and their legislature (the Senate) would not do anything to prevent it. It fell because the leader was concerned only with himself.

Sound familiar?

Capt Gregory Prickett - Your explanation of the fall of Rome sounds grossly over simplified and nowhere near universal belief; but I digress.
