COL Crandall is one of those larger-than-life heroes, particularly for his bravery, along with Ed Freeman, rescuing so many wounded soldiers in the Battle of Ia Drang.
I had the distinct pleasure of watching him address about five hundred members of the First Cavalry Division at The Wall on Veterans Day 2015, as they commemorated the fiftieth-year remembrance of that battle.
