Women can do some things as well as men. If we are careful about assignments both sexes do exceptionally well.

Charlie you are not only a wise woman you are a full blown badass! I would have of the ODA snipers give me a little education on something simple like the M24 aka a hopped up Remington 700. I killed some targets out to 800 or so yards. I am an average shot, it is a great system, and I had great coaches.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Sorry Charlie my language is a bit neanderthal most of the time. Yes, badass is a good thing. Now you can tell your friends that a knuckle dragging bargain called you a badass

Jack I I have seen some amazing and amazingly crappy performance by both male and females. I feel strongly if women want to be in a Ranger PLT, an ODA, a SEAL team, or whatever I have no issue with desire to pursue whatever. I have always felt women bring something to the table that is not there with all men. Standards, you cant change the standards. The standards are there for a reason, they are based on real combat, life or death situations. Example the min weight of the ruck sack for some training was 55 pounds minus food, water, and emergency gear, so more or less 65 pounds. All the years I worked in SF if I carried a ruck it could weigh anywhere between 65-100 pounds. That was not tents, cots, comfort items, that was mission essential equipment, i.e. radios, ammo, demo, batteries and other stuff. There were many missions where the average weight was 45 pounds and the demo man had 200 pounds of C4, guess what it got cross leveled. All that to say I don't give a shit if a little girl wants to be on a team. I say okay, lace your boots, strap on your ruck and get you some. Not trying to be a jackass but the truth is Assessment and Selection eats a pretty high percentage of men coming from combat arms and that is just deciding on if they should continue to the Q course. Jack I have worked with women all over the globe in different roles just like men I have seen good ones and bad ones. It is not an easy or fun profession but it is who some people are, if that is the case I say get all you want because you will not get all there is.

Lowering the standard to meet some bull$hit quota is what will get too many good people killed.
Though you said it better than I LTC Jeff Shearer.
