I've been to her home in Maryland which is now nsnaged by the National Park Service. Her home was the model for Red Cross supply warehouses set up around our country. She also tried to find missing servicemen after the Civil War and get them or the information about their deaths back to the families.

Clarissa "Clara" Harlowe Barton (December 25, 1821 – April 12, 1912) was a pioneering nurse who founded the American Red Cross.
