The strongest part of a carrier is the American flag. Any attack will be national suicide.
Author is no sailor. Article is full of false assumptions and opinions based on unoriginal public sources. Without going into details, I can think for many scenarios where conventional forces can cause significant damage to a carrier.
Cannot find any public record of writer serving in the military. Appears to be a policy wonk who lives off the public payroll at universities or working on Gov't contracts.
