I agree that POTUS should have invited the DEMs. But, with the formal Resistance Movement (Note using the name of WWII heros) Maybe with a known resistance, POTUS feels he can not trust them. Maybe he feels they would embarrass him or America. The DEMs and Resistance Movement brought this on themselves.

I don't believe he thought for a minute they would embarrass him. If he does, then he is paranoid. It's never happened before, and there's no indication it would ever happen now. They are all (dems and R's) smart enough to behave in public. He did invite a Dem, so that obviously wasn't his thought.

I wonder if they would have accepted the invitation??? Would be another opportunity to show disrespect to the President. Just sayin.
