CW5 Jack Cardwell Interesting weapon. We used the M79 Grenade launcher, which I thought was a good grenade launcher.

Sgt (Join to see) the M204 was the launcher during my time and it was attached to the M16.

Sgt Theodore M. Hallock -Ted our problem was the limited amount of buckshot or canister rounds available back in 1966,so all grenadiers got to carry the .45 cal 1911 which I found to be more reliable than our jamming M16s.

SGT Philip Roncari - I would volunteer for Rat Patrol where we would drive two jeeps up and down the roads at night without headlights. In each jeep, we had a driver, a Radio Operator (me) and two guy manning the M60. My weapon of choice was the M79 which I was pretty good with. The purpose was to keep Charlie from planting mines in the road which did not work too well. We had no problem getting ammunition but we could not get resupplied with jungle utility trousers.

Sgt Theodore M. Hallock -I was assigned as a grenadier on my arrival in country and held that job for about my first three months then switched out with a buddy and became a rifleman for the remainder of my tour,I admire your bravery in volunteering on the Rat Patrol, being out on the open road at night not my idea of fun, give me a dark jungle anytime,we had the same problem with jungle fatigues and socks, and our early issue M16s jamming problems were life threatening.

Thanks for a preview of the Mark 18 model automatic Grenade launcher CW5 Jack Cardwell. That is certainly a weapon that I would not want to be downrange of :-)

Interesting. I did not know about the Mk-18. When I was in Security Forces, I went to Mk-19 school. It was awesome. https://www.military.com/equipment/mk19-grenade-machine-gun

You should see the Mk 47 Striker. Selectable range. Good to get past a wall or other obstacle the bad guys might be behind. Get's passed it and detonates over the top.
