Hadn't heard this version before. Great song but still like Allman Brothers version more.

It's nice to hear an early version (1963) by Sonny Boy Williamson, SGT (Join to see), so I'll give him a tip of the hat (so to speak)! I had not heard this version before, so for that I thank you. However, for me, The Allman Brothers Band '71-'72 cover of One Way Out is the definitive rendition of the song!

They are both great. I believe more than likely the Allman Brothers were familiar with and probably knew this version or perhaps even an earlier one seeing they were blues aficionados. I love them both! LTC Stephen C. Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen SPC Woody Bullard

That's what is so great about Blues Music. Different artists can make great performances out of other versions of a song. Not necessarily true in Pop or Country music.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - That is absolutely right! Look at songs like Dust My Broom, Backdoor Man, Crossroads, When the Levee Breaks, Little Red Rooster, Baby Please Don't Go, Matchbox (which Sam Phillips "appropriated"), Rolling and Tumbling, Born under a Bad Sign, and on and on! And each artist makes it his or her own!
