Thanks for letting us know TSgt Joe C. that on April 1, 1970 President Richard Nixon signed legislation officially banning cigarette ads on television and radio. Nixon, who was an avid pipe smoker, indulging in as many as eight bowls a day, supported the legislation at the increasing insistence of public health advocates.
Of course nowadays we see prescription drug advertising which includes the potential side effects including death on a regular basis.

I remember when they quit showing the Marlboro man and the other commercials for cigarettes on TV.
