The VA is a waste, a money pit, a dinosaur of an agency. First issue is the administration. They claim to hire so Mamet doctors. What do these doctors do? Well, I’ll tell you. They hire doctors from these other second world countries to see patients. While hiring doctors form CONUS with large specialty pays doing administrative work. The rest of the industry is using advanced degree nurses the VA hold on to antiquated practices. The Army’s previous Surgeon General was a nurse. A position she successfully held for four years. She was the second nurse to hold that post. There have been plenty of nurses who have been in charge of military hospitals. There is absolutely no reason why they can’t put more doctors with patients. If I had to guess they won’t do it because there is no way a nurse can be administering policies over doctors. Second, processes. If you have ever dealt with the VA you know that their processes are bulky and cumbersome. Everything they do takes months. I was tried to pay them back a $9,000 overpayment. They refused to accept it and told me to wait till they asked for it. Six months later they asked and treated me like a was trying to rip them off. Third, appointments. My father used the VA system. Or at least tried. Appointment were too far out that he just went elsewhere in most but the extreme cases. Again, back to the problem with too many doctors working administrator jobs than seeing patients. Go to USA Jobs where they advertise their positions. All administration jobs require a medical degree.
