Excerpt from The History Channel's The Presidents series featuring our seventh president; Andrew Jackson.
Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that March 15 is the anniversary of the birth of American soldier and statesman who served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837 Andrew Jackson who previously gained fame as a general in the United States Army and served in both houses of Congress.
During the Creek War of 1813–1814, his leadership was instrumental in winning the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. The subsequent Treaty of Fort Jackson required the Creek surrender of vast lands in present-day Alabama and Georgia. In the concurrent war ongoing against the British, Jackson's victory in 1815 at the Battle of New Orleans made him a national hero.
He decisively beat incumbent President John Quincy Adams in the 1828 election.

I've read a good deal of bio stuff on him, he was a real piece of work, even for period in which he lived...I've also seen the Hermitage, his home in Nashville, I'd seen it yrs ago, when I'd thought to go to a nearby grad school close by there...you might want to look up the website for it....

I live in the Nashville area, Capt Daniel Goodman, and I've toured The Hermitage more than once. Here are two photos of the house. The view from the front is magnificent. The second photo shows the side of the house. Jackson had to economize, so while the front of the house looks grandiose, from the side and rear, it's just not the same!
The Hermitage is located east of the city and I live south of Nashville, about 30 miles away from Jackson's home.

Seems also President Jackson actually had a balanced budget, He said that Government should be run the way You should run Your household, if You can't afford it You don't buy it. He had received a budget in the red, put it in the black but them next President after Him put it right back in the red.
