Eli Whitney patents the cotton gin on March 13, 1793. Although he was not able to profit much from it, he was able to become rich by inventing a way to manufacture muskets that had interchangeable parts.

Thank you for the history share, he also has a revolver named for him also, looks like an early Remington.
