Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that March 11 is the anniversary of the birth of American musician, accordionist, bandleader, and television impresario Lawrence Welk who hosted the television program The Lawrence Welk Show from 1951 to 1982.
Rest in peace Lawrence Welk!

Thank you Capt Marty Hogan for bringing us the Biography & a five minute excerpt video of “The Tonight Show” starring Johnny Carson.
My parents watched Lawrence’s weekly show from time to time, & I was in part “waiting for ‘My Show’” to come on afterwards, so I stuck it out, (So long as my homework was done that is!)until “Bonanza” came on! (Prime time back then!)

My parents met at a USO club in Tampa, Florida needless to say we watched Lawrence Welk growing up. We went to the German restaurant to dance the polka on my dad's shoes. All this time I never thought about why my mom was there at the USO. Haha maybe she was oss too! LOL the things that come to you when you lived long enough.
