The quote below is the key part of the article for me. Liberty is a gift but it is a gift with a responsibility. The responsibility is to secure it, to keep it safe and by default to keep yourself (and others) safe. We keep liberty safe by being prepared for anyone that might try to take it away. That might be through a crime, insurrection or an outright war.
___________________________________________________________________________________
"The real security they promise is freedom from responsibility, or the ability to transfer responsibility to a select group of people who can be held accountable when things go wrong. They promise security for all in exchange for a little more, and eventually a lot more, power."
___________________________________________________________________________________
Many seem willing to give up the responsibility of liberty for what they think is protection and safety they will gain from the state/government in return. That is a big lie. This tragedy in Parkdale proves it perfectly for anyone willing to look at it honestly. Those that are/were supposed to protect the school and the general public failed epically in so many ways it is hard to believe. From the school to the Sheriff's department to the FBI. In this case, those responsible for the safety failed and are dodging the responsibility for that failure as we speak.
If you are disarmed and have to rely solely on local police, the FBI and others for your safety you have forfeited the responsibility that comes with the liberty you seem to like and want. In the end, you will lose liberty because you were unwilling to accept the responsibility that comes with it.
The lesson is that you cannot rely on others to keep you safe, to secure you and ensure you are protected. The liberty you enjoy as a citizen under our Constitution is fleeting if you are not responsible for keeping it safe and willing to accept that responsibility willingly.

I agree. I think this was purposeful. No one asks the Left: explain this epic failure of all layers of government with all its resources failing. And this is one example. The Tsarnov Brothers were also reported to the FBI. We knew the 19 hijackers had over stayed their VIsas. Government knows everything but does nothing.

I agree totally. But I have also not seen anyone, except in very small numbers on the fringe (and that was social media crazies (bots?), suggest disarming.

But Trump actually suggested taking a weapon away and "worry about due process later". What are citizens expected to do against that sort of oppression?

LTC (Join to see) Rebel, die, rebel some more, divide into factions, try to not die and make the other side die. Losing side gets bitter, rebels every now and then, laws change, culture changes. I'm not sure if I'd place bets on anyone though.

Jason, I am amazed at how simply this problem could be solved. A group of Advanced Course Captains could conduct a Mission Analysis and then a MDMP and then provide COAs or policy recommendations to the leadership. But the FBI, State and Local, politicians at every level, Dept of Ed, School counselors, parents, ect have F'd this entire system. This is so easily fixable. I use to ask myself when things were really bad in Iraq, where are our Generals. Now I ask where are our leaders? We don't have leaders. We have those that pander. They are fancy, Ivy League, good hair, PC words, pan handlers. And the People accept this. It is unacceptable. // Where is the Tylenol.
