Update: SSG(P) (Join to see). It seems that CPT Shahin Uddin who is the current Assistant to the Commandant of USMA for Respect presented the acceptance letter to the family of Peter Wang.
Being accepted into USMA is an honor. Those who don't make it through the end of second year [Yearling] can leave without an obligation to serve in the Army. I expect that is the bucket that Peter Wang will be part of.
I wonder if they will follow through with posthumous SGLI as well since all cadets are covered. .
Image: ROTC Medal of Heroism
I hope so since each has been awarded the ROTC Medal of Heroism
I expect ROTC could modify his status at death since "Member, cadet, or midshipman of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) engaged in authorized training and practice cruises."
The dead can't apply for admission; but it seems a dead person can be granted an honorary admission.
While I was cadet, 6 of my classmates were killed.
From my alma mater admissions page:
"What are the admission requirements?
You must meet certain requirements specified by public law in order to be considered for admission to West Point. You will be evaluated in three areas: academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential, and physical aptitude. You must also meet strict medical qualification requirements. First of all, you must be a United States citizen, at least 17 and not yet 23 years of age on July 1 of your year of admission. You must not be married, pregnant, or have a legal obligation to support a child or children. If you are a naturalized citizen, you must provide documentation.
What are the medical requirements?
You must be in good physical and mental health and pass a Department of Defense qualifying medical examination. Medical standards are discussed in more detail in the West Point Admissions Bulletin and the West Point catalog."

SSG(P) (Join to see) - okay. It is posted on the public page of the academy not the password required sites.
I checked those pages and there is nothing there. Since this is honorary I expect it won't be listed on those pages.
In will be interesting to see if after July 2020, the Class of 2025 adds the name of Peter Wang among the deceased class members. My six dead classmates were added to our yearbook [Howitzer] but never included in the Register of Graduates.
I expect the notice with USMA crest is posted on the public pages to bless the family and friends

LTC Stephen F. is this a fake site or posting?

Are you stating that the photo of a Certificate of Appointment on the secure West Point Twitter feed is fake?
Do you consider the local newspaper to be a legitimate news source? The local newspaper is the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and their main page is at http://www.sun-sentinel.com and for this story the authors are Aric Chokey and Brittany Wallman, and the story is posted at - http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/parkland/florida-school-shooting/fl-florida-school-shooting-peter-wang-funeral-20180220-story.html

Public Affairs Office West Point, NY 10996 [login to see] /3808 STATEMENT
February 20, 2018
The U.S. Military Academy wants to pass on our deepest condolences to the Wang family and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community. Peter Wang, an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadet at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, had a lifetime goal to attend USMA and was posthumously offered admission for his heroic actions on Feb. 14, 2018. It was an appropriate way for USMA to honor this brave young man. West Point has given posthumous offers of admissions in very rare instances for those candidates or potential candidate's whose actions exemplified the tenets of Duty, Honor and Country.
