Another political foul up. A lot of people took heat from "know-little-or-nothing" idiots about being in the Guard or Reserve to avoid going to Vietnam. They were there to serve just as much as active troops and some did.
Had to do a line of duty investigation on a Alabama National Guard LTC in Okinawa in 1968 whose unit had been activated. An Army Reserve Field Hospital from New York was attached the 24th Evac Hospital at Long Bihn as a POW facility.
Guard and Reserve units could have been called up to backfill Active units that could deploy as was done during Desert Storm. That could have enhanced their training and readiness

SP5 Mark Kuzinski I remember this very well. I had recently re-enlisted and was preparing for my first shore duty rotation.
