All of this over a box check done incorrectly. That is how easy it is to end up on the wrong side of the law and having to prove you are innocent versus them proving you are a risk. Americans are also put on the no fly list incorrectly. If they are going to deny you your ability to move and associate the case should be clear. The box check should not be enough. There should be a mound of other evidence they believe a court of law would recognize as evidence.
A no fly list is not a conviction only the denial of the ability to travel in and out of the U.S. I support the concept of a no fly list but law enforcement should have the burden of demonstrating why someone is on the list. It should never take years of legal wrangling to hear, oops we made a mistake.

I was on the no fly list. The name is what gets flagged, not a specific individual. It took me 5 yrs to get removed. I was allowed to travel inside the US if I had my passport and 4 other forms of ID. Even if I was in uniform.

LTC (Join to see) - That must have been a lot of fun undoing. Guilty until proven innocent as an American citizen is unacceptable to me. I fly a lot (100k miles per year) being accidentally put on a no fly list would be a massive issue. It must have added some real salt to the wound being an active duty soldier and being denied boarding a commercial airline flight. I am sure you had no issues boarding military aircraft.
