The Burning of the Gaspee

So Rhode Island may be a small state...but that doesn't mean we won't start something. Being from the smallest state in the Union, Rhode Islanders have heard every possible size joke there is. But keep in mind, we are some crafty people if you get us riled up. A year before Boston had a tea Party Rhodies were taking it to the Brits with the burning of the HMS Gaspee.

Now so everyone understands, every American owes a great debt to the people of the 13th state. For if it weren't for the defiance of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, there may very well never have been a Bill of Rights, and only land owners would have had the right to vote. Yes Rhode island held out until those things could be resolved. Washington himself threaten to invade the little colony if they didn't get on board.
