Congress has failed for several decades to do their job: Legislate. Whose fault is that? Ours. We not only elect every member but also reelect them in spite of their repeated failures.

I rarely agree with you, but this comment I do. We have the legislature we deserve by our voting record.

The solution is simple. I think it came from Warren Buffet. If a budget is not passed by the deadline all sitting members should be ineligible for re election.

I think we have the winning solution, Capt (Join to see)! Now, how to get the knuckleheads on Capitol Hill to acquiesce?

I'd go a step further; Constitutional Amendment - Failure to pass a budget resolution 90 days prior to the beginning of a fiscal year constitutes an automatic vote of "no confidence." All legislative seats are up for election the following November. Once the train leaves the station no stopping it.

Congress cannot agree to almost anything,, how do you get a Constitutional Amendment through,, especially with the nation so divided?

In 2013, Obama was a Democratic POTUS with a GOP Congress to work with, but according to Trump at the time, Obama was to blame for the shut down. Now, he is a GOP POTUS, with a GOP Congress to work with.......but if a shut down happens.......it's not his fault......it's the Democrats. Just one more example of him taking all credit for anything that goes well, but accepting no responsibility for anything that goes wrong. What a leader.....

Decent point, though parlayed by the fact that the media blamed the GOP. End result was the GOP won House seats, which indicates the American voters eventually blamed the Administration.

Obama was like a slow-motion traffic wreck. You could see it coming... and yet nothing happened to stop it. Trump is similar... but not because he or his agenda are disliked. Just a peek into the minds of the House and Senate...
