Income taxes are a dumb way to finance a government. Penalizing investing and working is counterproductive and yet, that is precisely what we're doing.

I'm OK with the concept of an income tax, I just don't want it to be used as a tool for social engineering. What you do with your money should be entirely your business, and the government shouldn't be rewarding you or penalizing you for anything.

SSgt Christopher Brose - No, the government shouldn't be "social engineering" with taxes or anything else. However, I still maintain that penalizing work and investing is a dumb way to finance a government.

CPT Jack Durish - It certainly is dumb to penalize work at the same time non-work is being rewarded.

SSgt Christopher Brose - That's the truth there. Rewarding people for not working is the dumbest idea there is.

The only way I would support it is if both actions (Sales tax enactment and Income Tax repeal in the following year) were in the same Bill sent to the President.
