USCG has the legal authority to terminate a voyage based on evidence of unsafe operation. Simple logic on the taxpayer's behalf it that it is better to prevent a disaster than deal with a real disaster later. Being in a 26ft sailboat ten miles offshore at this time of the year is not very smart. I suspect the CG will divert a boat from Mayport, on regular patrol, to board this sailboat. There may be something fishy going on. They could be waiting for a drug drop, or do an illegal transfer of something to a passing boat.
