I really miss the days when you could tell one car model/year from another. Today's homogenous cars just aren't the same, heck you can hardly tell make let alone year and model anymore.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen, SGT (Join to see) I agree with both of you 100%. Back in the 50's, and even into the early 60's us kids could call out the year, model and make of almost every car if not all American cars. And we could tell you what song was playing and what group was playing it! We all knew what the hottest cars were and they were the cars we set out to own one day. A look into my barn and garages, will show what I dreamed about as a kid! But, the cars as well as the music of today all look & sound the same to me as they have zero identity style. IMHO!

With you 100% on both. My first brand new car was a 1968 GTO, so kind of tells you where my head was concerning cars.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - NICE! In 68, Who didn't want a GTO? In 1968 I was a new E-4, and my ride was what ever would stop when my thumb was out along the highway! My dream ride as a young teen in the 50's was a 1957 Chevy and also to own a Model A ford! Never happened as a teen on either car. I spent 23 years on Military pay, so they had to wait until I retired from the Navy. Today I have two 1957 Chevy's and two Model A Fords! One 57 Chevy and one Model A Ford is restored, the others are works in progress.

Oh wow, 57 Chevy and you have 2. My father had a Navy friend who was big into restoring cars, so know what that involves. Keeps you busy and broke all at the same time!

Like the vintage car ads especially the one for the Ford Mustang. Here are a couple
of 1960's cars one of which is my first car my father had to sign for as the legal owner
as I was only 16. I had a job and made the payments on the 1960 Chevy Impala.
My 1967 Ford Mustang fastback parked on Daytona Beach in front of the boardwalk
back when you could drive all the beach area day and night. Great memories from
better times.

SGT (Join to see) - Dave, here are some photos of the beach in the summer of 1962 when I was 14. One is my mother and me on the boardwalk in front of the Pier where Greg and Duane Allman and their Seabreeze High School band played on weekends for our dance parties. The other photos are my dad and me and me at the beach entrance/exit ramp. That heavy coat of zinc oxide on my nose. Daytona 1962.

CWO3 Dennis M. - That big block 454 was a monster engine. I had a buddy in Daytona that had a Chevy Chevelle SS454 with a 4 speed. I like that line pass everything but a gas station. That applied to my Vette also as I recall.

SGT (Join to see) - I loved living over in Daytona and have great memories of all my school buddies and our surf parties on the beach. Dave, we could drive our cars on the beach at night and get together on the beach for what we called "moonlight swim parties". We never did anything to destroy property or hurt someone we just had fun.
Now I hear you can't drive on the beach at night and driving is restricted during the day.
I'm glad I had a chance to live and grow up in Daytona back in better times when people
were not so mean and violent as today. I feel sorry for the teenagers today. I know the boardwalk has changed over the years and I guess the Pier is still out over the ocean.
My wife Brenda and I are going to drive over one weekend and see how Daytona has changed. I know some of your family remembers how Daytona was back in the 50's&60's.
