This was immediately predictable when his defense team advised him to seek a trial before a military judge and not to be tried before a Courts Martial panel. Some time ago I posted comments regarding this noting that the military judge, a person who wears a uniform but has never left the cozy confines of the Courtroom would be inclined to let this man's many self confessed transgressions against his fellow soldiers go unpunished. The overall performance of the military judges in GITMO were a clear bellwether... In all of the years they have been conducting military tribunals they have yet to convict and sentence a notable terrorist! This ruling is a travesty of justice rendered by a man who never had to face the situations that were faced by the brave warriors who dealt with this in the field. Their pain, suffering and sacrifice were not sufficient to extract another ounce of punishment from Bergdahl It is reflective of the continuing wussification of our society through the continuous bashing of our standards and ideal by the social warrior class and the impact they are having on our ability to administer justice to those who deserve it. This decision and sentence is disgusting and appalling and diminishes with great disrespect the service rendered by all those who were impacted by this traitor. It will lower the bar for those yet to serve who at a time and place of their choosing will decide it is time to abandon their post because there are no consequences. This is truly shameful!

Sgt Wayne Wood - Thank you... There will be more to say but it will not come from the Warrior Class. It will be the chest thumping of the anti-military / anti-war / anti-Trump segment of our society who will now turn him into a poster child... wait for it!

I readily admit I do not have all the facts the military judge has; however, I believe the military justice system failed all active, retired, and veterans with this verdict. Very sad.

At least they gave him a Dishonorable. Still think he deserved jail, but it is what it is.
