Let's see if I get this right the Confederate Flag waivers claim to be Republicans! But the Republican Party is the party of Lincoln which fought for the union!
The Confederate Sympathizers call anyone that doesn't agree with them RINO's and that you can't fix stupid!
Seems to me that they are right and proving they are the type of stupid you can't fix. I believe while you can't fix stupid with some duct tape you can muffle it for a while!

Once the North blockaded the southern ports so the trade between the south and France could not continue the war was on. Lincoln wanted the tax monies enacted to 48%. Lincoln did not take the moral high road until the North was losing. If memory serves.
I suspect, to gain able bodied men that would fight was Lincoln's agenda.
Low information voters will not take the time to read. They will believe in a lie and react emotionally. With violence.
The American Confederate dead are protected under the law. Just as you and I are.
