For the past 8 years, they have been the party of "No".......it was their one and only function......to say no to anything Obama or the Dems wanted to do. Their plan going forward was to continue saying no to Hillary. But then the election happened.......and now they are in a position to govern.....trouble is, they had no plan to do so.......and they are quite out of practice. At the moment, they can't even get out of their own way. They made this bed........

CPT Jack Durish - By the way, Captain Jack........I'm still working on reading your book about your experiences in Nam. Just read the chapter about "latrines".......thank you for that! Actually, it was pretty funny......as I'm sure most things are when looking back at them. Good book.....

The major problem is that we all SAY that we should do something, and then fail to do it when push comes to shove. I'd love it if we could do the "No Confidence" thing and get them booted mid-term when they aren't doing what we pay them to do. Honestly, even the "good" politicians can't get anything done. There's the summer vacation to worry about, raises for themselves, etc.
I've been thinking lately, that the best way to get work done there is to not pay them. Not one cent. They get housing, food allowances and spending money for clothing, but nothing else. That would really prove who wants to work for the good of the Nation, and who just wants to play bigwig.

It's an idea that's been batted around for a long time. The problem is that we already have the means at our disposal of replacing them. We simply don't use it. We the People who should care don't. I don't know about you but I don't think about politics or government or care much about it unless it's getting in my way. I don't want anything from them except to be left alone. Meanwhile, those who want something from the government (free handouts for slackers and special dispensations for failing businesses) care overly much about politics and government and are very actively engaged in it. Thus, we have a government Of the People, By the People, and For the People who want something and the government takes it from the rest of us to give to them.

I'd like to present another narrative here. What if there are no political parties? What if there are two private corporations that are funded by a few wealthy Americans and other powerful corporate interests that play lip service to the People but true action for their corporate donors?
The Republicans have failed to pass any laws that were basis for the recent POTUS. On the Democrat side, they had 7 years and there was a time when they held the majority that they could have done something/ anything for DACA or illegal immigrants. So both political party's have given the big middle finger to the People. Why would Voting someone out matter now when it has not changed political realities??
