There's an interesting legal question posed in this blog: "The Fitzgerald investigation has turned up no indications of cyber foul play and identified other factors behind the collision, such as poor seamanship. The evaluation of the McCain incident will probably produce similar conclusions. However, the incidents provide an interesting hypothetical: how would international law treat the collisions if they were the result of state-sponsored cyber operations? And what would it mean for the cyber norms debate?"
Also, what are the outcomes if our warships could be hacked by non-state groups like ISIS?

I really hate these types of articles that try to gin up controversy on something that they know nothing about. The odds of a DDG being hacked by a foreign power, are roughly the same as me winning the $700M Powerball. These articles use the fact that a civilian maritime ship had it's GPS spoofed. There is a light years difference between a civilian ship's systems and a US Navy ship's systems.

Agreed but it's a hypothetical legal question about international law. Not about the possibility of being hacked.
