Ok so as a lot of you know this whole thing blew up on the internet after an internal memo from the Dallas Police Department. The department had concerns about the pistol because it stated in the owners manual that if you drop the weapon it might accidentally go off.... seems like a pretty standard CYA statement from an owners manual. When they started researching it there were two complaints that they could find from other police departments that were testing the weapon that it fire when dropped. After this all blew up it was determined that the "drop test" is very specific in how it has to be dropped, and that does not include dropping it on the rear of the weapon.... which is the angle that causes the weapon to fire.

As previously stated Sig says they have a fix and the instructions for that will be put out on Monday 14 AUG.

Was the weapon proved unsafe by a member of the military or a civilian that probably didn't read the ops. manual.

Watch the videos at the link provided. You can see exactly how it happens. Looks like it does not need to be above shoulder level as I originally thought.

Well to put things in context. The ANSI, California DOJ and a host of other organizations have testing standards to consider a gun "Drop Safe". To get the P320 to fire when dropped you have to do it in a manner different than any previous testing standard. So technically someone didn't read the manual. Sig did their best to make a gun idiot proof, then someone built a better idiot.
