He doesn't have a say if the policy is for him/her to hit the door. He can talk smack all day but at the end of the day, policy wins out. Now is it right for us to have bait and switched these folks??? Absolutely not. Although I don't agree with Transgender overall, we (the military) told them it was ok and they came out...now we are telling them it isn't ok and they will have to go now that we know...that isn't right. If the ban comes out, those in the service should be grandfathered and allowed to stay if their records reflect credible service. Other than that, new folks should adhere to the ban if it comes around...again...still not official.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth I agree. The attitude is great, the dedication is great, but if the policy comes out, and the service decides to discharge them, there only avenue that will be open to those serving will be a lawsuit. That would be years, and they would be in limbo for that time. You put it perfectly with the bait and switch.

You're probably right. However, I served when men were men. There were always those that mentally ill and stayed in the closet thankfully. The liberal crybabies were taking over before I left and the military personnel these days that accept freaks under the disguise of PC is only worsening the situation. The percentage of freaks is so minimal in comparison to general population that it's absolutely disgraceful to recognize and empower these freaks.

Wish they had coveted the plate. If they had a TG Coasties, they would have had a trifecta.

His point it mute now....first mistake was openly talking shit, so someone in his CoC will make cash of his ass, second and more importantly, the SecDef has not made an announcement stating this will happen and Dunsford said the CURRENT policy is in effect until an official announcement is made and regulations made not through twitter. I have to say honestly while I support Trans serving openly, to openly challenge the POTUS and his will was the stupidest thing I'll read today. When you get kicked out, it won't be due to your orientation, it'll be due to Art 134, Art 92, and Art 88. You'd deserve all three.
Sometimes you can do more for your cause by holding onto your professionalism than enticing emotional and irresponsible outbursts that will make the rounds in MSM. MSM is NOT your friend, and they are self serving....not to you when you get the boot. They're not going to kick you out dumbass.

Transgender People Can Still Serve for Now, U.S. Military Says
The military’s policy is unchanged until the White House alters the rules, a top Pentagon official said a day after President Trump announced that the armed services would bar transgender members.

SSG Warren Swan indeed it is true that a closed mouth gathers no foot, and people tend to be their own worst enemy. In this case I doubt he will have any UCMJ charges simply because it is a hot button issue that the military doesn't want going thermonuclear.

It's the principle of it all. There was a much better way to say what he said that would've been taken professionally and not seem as an open challenge to the POTUS. With this making the news (much like the Soldiers who made the news for skipping flag call and joking about funeral detail), the unit would be left with no choice but to do something. In today's climate a counseling can be deadly to a career. I'm the first one to say it was stupid to post policy through twitter, but had I still been AD, you would not see me openly daring someone to take action against me when the policy goes against me. SSG Swan vs. POTUS...... who wins who looses?
