We are talking about bits of debris moving many times faster than bullets. Catching them may prove more problematic than one might think

While acknowledging that small things like a floating wrench will be among the most difficult, Launch housings are about the size of some of the satallites that they regularly make contact with to perform repairs. and for the smaller stuff, I have a picture in my mind of a space going shrimp boat net of some kind. The point is while we cannot go out for the cigarrete butts, we should be picking up the blown tires and bring back at least a little bit of what we tossed out, then stuff can be reclaimed and recycled or at least not a floating hazard.

Fuel... every maneuver has a price in fuel, and needs to be planned. Unless they carry a bunch of extra to maneuver around and get them, it isn't going to be done anytime soon.
