Since the collapse of the Soviet Union I fail to understand the whole Cuba thing... We have all these sanctions and yet China is a number one trade partner. On the scale of injustice China is way bigger. There are many evil dictators in the world and yet this one has been a thorn in our side since the Cuban Missile crisis... or perhaps the Bay of Pigs... or maybe since Ricky Ricardo was allowed to marry Lucile Ball... or was it the Mambo that did it?

SFC Bernard Walko - China is not completely different, Cuba is a time island that can harm no one other than their own people. They both start with C and coincidentally so does Communism which is both countries form of government. China is large place with about 37% of the world's population. And in regards to Human rights violations China is way worse than Cuba.

If he can gain more concessions from the Castro regime, and still move toward more normal relations, I'm all for it. If he just wants to scrap the whole thing because Obama put it together, then he is on the wrong track. We have a lot of businesses that would like to expand into the Cuban market, and a lot of people that would like to travel back and forth to Cuba more easily. If we can do business with Red China, and Russia......why do we single out Cuba and say "but not you"? Look at the ton of business we just agreed to do with Saudi Arabia......are they not a repressive regime as well?

Absolute agree. I guess Cuba is not "our" repressive regime. To be honest I think it goes back to the entwined histories of the US and Cuba over the 125 years and how they were a big enemy of US for many years. It was kind of absurd in hind sight but it was what it was.

I realize Cuba has not been friendly toward us in the past......but hey, we have a little history with Germany and Japan too......and we do plenty of business with them. Go figure.....

So the embargo has not completed any of its goals in 50 years. If we want to change things, maybe some exposure to a better way could lead to lasting change. Giving them the cold shoulder hasn't proved effective.
